Chris Weiser graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and first worked with Freeport- McMoRan in New Orleans.

In 1981, he completed The Executive Program at the University of Virginia. In late 1985, Chris had the opportunity to return to Springdale and help manage a family business – JV Manufacturing, Inc. – manufacturing the Cram-A-Lot line of recycling and solid waste disposal equipment. Chris joined the National Waste and Recycling Association, JV’s primary trade association, serving in several capacities including the Board of Trustees, and he was elected to the association’s Hall of Fame in 2005.Chris was named to the Arkansas Academy of Mechanical Engineering in 2001 and served as chairman in 2007 and 2008. He served on the Campaign Arkansas Engineering Committee from 2012 to 2013. In 2013, he was honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award by the College of Engineering. Chris is also an emeritus member of the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council.

Currently chairman of the Springdale Water and Sewer Commission, Chris also serves as vice-chair of the Beaver Water District, the organization that supplies water to all of Northwest Arkansas. Chris twice served as chairman of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce board and was the Chamber’s Civic Service Honoree in 2014. In addition, Chris served as chairman of the board of the Arkansas Institute for Performance Excellence and the Arkansas Governor’s Quality Award – an organization that helps Arkansas businesses achieve performance excellence.

 

He served on the Manufacturing Extension Partnership/National Institute of Standards and Technology board in Washington, D.C. He has served with several nonprofit organizations: United Way, Hope Cancer Resources and Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation.

Chris and his wife, Debby, award multiple renewable engineering scholarships annually.
