GirlTREC
2025 Theme:
Galactic Quest: Engineering Across the Universe
Embark on an out-of-this-world adventure with Galactic Quest! Throughout the week, participants will dive into the wonders of space exploration with themed snacks, activities, and field trips that bring the cosmos to life. While the engineering projects will focus on hands-on creativity and problem-solving, the Galactic Quest theme will set the stage for an unforgettable journey among the stars.
The GirlTREC camp is a dynamic summer program designed to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of female engineers. Made possible through funding from the Maritime Transportation Research & Education Center (MarTREC), supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation, this program offers a unique opportunity for girls* currently in 5th and 6th grades (entering 6th and 7th in Fall 2025) to explore the world of engineering in a fun and supportive environment.
Participants will engage in:
- Hands-on Projects: Students will dive into exciting activities that explore transportation engineering, tackling real-world challenges related to roads, railways, waterways, and more.
- Collaborative Learning: Working in teams, participants will develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills while creating innovative solutions.
- Themed Adventures: Tied into the Galactic Quest theme, the camp will feature space-inspired snacks and field trips, making the experience even more immersive and exciting.
- STEM Skill-Building: Students will gain foundational knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) while building confidence and creativity.
*We welcome all youth who identify with the camp's mission and theme to apply.
