Why Choose this Degree

Chemical Engineering is the only discipline that deals with solving the five major technical problems facing society: energy, food, water, health and the environment. Here are more reasons to choose this degree:

  • Employment of chemical engineers is projected to grow 8% from 2022 to 2032, faster than the average for all occupations
  • Highest retention rate for undergraduate students in the college
  • Highest percentage of students graduated with honors in the college (34.0%)
  • 93.6% of students graduated having completed at least one experiential learning opportunity (co-op, internship, undergraduate research, study abroad, career mentorship)
The University of Arkansas Chemical Engineering department has been my home for the past 4 years. It's more than just “living” in the CHEG lounge for late night study sessions; it's a place where faculty and staff genuinely care about us as individuals. The department equipped me with strong technical skills, preparing me for competitive job opportunities and connected me with a warm student group.
