College of Engineering Professional Staff Development

In support of the College of Engineering’s strategic plan to further staff professional development opportunities, the college will award up to four times a year at a monetary amount of up to $500.

  1. Timeline

    1. Awarded calendar quarterly

    2. Applicants must request at least 60 days prior to professional development activity

  2. Eligibility

    1. Must be employed by the College of Engineering for a minimum of six consecutive

      months

    2. Classified or non-classified, fully appointed staff as defined in Article VI, Section 1

    3. Supervisor approval with agreement that a minimum of the 50% will be funded by

      department

    4. Members of the COE Staff Council Activities Committee cannot apply

  3. Application

    1. Submit online application 

    2. Professional development activity must be included with application (supporting

      documentation)

    3. An email will be sent to staff supervisor for verification

  4. Selection requirements

    1. Complete application

    2. Professional development benefits employee’s current position

    3. Department approval

  5. Award

    1. Administered by the College of Engineering Staff Activities Committee

    2. Recipient will work with Staff Council Treasurer and Department Fiscal Employee

  6. Examples of professional development

    1. Global campus professional development training programs

    2. Regional and/or national organization conferences or workshops

    3. U of A employee development program trainings (not tuition credited courses)

College of Engineering Employee of the Quarter

Faculty and staff of the College of Engineering are encouraged to nominate staff employees in recognition of outstanding service to the University. All regularly appointed staff are eligible for nomination. Nominees must have been employed by the U of A for at least one year. The Staff Council President will send out calls for nominations at the end of each quarter. The Employee of the Quarter receives a monetary award of $200, and the Employee of the Year receives a monetary award of $250.
