First of all, I’d like to express how excited and grateful I am to serve as dean for the College of Engineering. It is definitely a great time to be a part of this university and this college! Enrollment is higher than ever, and our engineering students always impress me with their hard work, talent and motivation. I love to see our students in the halls. They are from many different backgrounds, but they have one thing in common—a drive to change the world through engineering innovation.

We have recently implemented a new strategic plan for the college, and we are using this plan, along with the knowledge of our research strengths, to guide our growth as a college. And we’re getting great results! Our faculty are have been very successful in expanding our research activities. Thanks to the efforts of our faculty, the College of Engineering has world class research centers that are studying new ways to make the products we need, increase sustainability and improve cybersecurity. Every year, we hire a few more talented faculty members to contribute to our research mission and to inspire and educate our students. In addition to this, a range of start-up companies, led by faculty, students and alumni, are contributing their engineering know-how to the community while they create jobs for the local economy.

The College of Engineering is on an upward trajectory, and I intend to keep working hard to make sure we are meeting the needs of our students and our community. Whether you are an engineer, or on your way to being an engineer, or even if you’re just here to learn more about the exciting world of engineering, welcome. We are here to prepare you for your tomorrow.
